From manual processes to a scalable digital foundation
Kersten Home Deco, a leading wholesaler of home decoration products, faced the challenge of modernizing fragmented and error-prone product information processes. With more than 9,000 products and increasing demands from retail partners for accurate and up-to-date product content, a scalable and efficient solution became essential.
The challenge
Product information was managed through manual Excel-based processes involving multiple stakeholders, including suppliers and product stylists. The existing ERP system (AX 2009) offered limited capabilities for managing digital assets such as images and documentation. As a result, product data was scattered across systems, difficult to maintain, and prone to inconsistencies.
The solution
Together with implementation partner Innovadis, Kersten adopted a phased Product Information Management (PIM) strategy. Sales Layer was selected as the central PIM platform for managing and enriching product content, while Qmica was implemented to transform, normalize, validate, and prepare product data according to GS1 standards.
The results
The combination of Qmica and Sales Layer delivered measurable business value:
- 40% reduction in manual effort through automated data validation and processing
- 30% faster product launches through streamlined GS1 data synchronization
- Improved collaboration with retail partners through consistent, high-quality product information
- A centralized and scalable foundation for future growth
By digitizing and standardizing its product information processes, Kersten Home Deco established a future-proof product data ecosystem that supports both operational efficiency and commercial growth.
